Spring Storm

Vapor hangs heavy in the meadow this morning.
Pressure demands sully floating lightness
and it takes cover to the nearest safest place.
A surface foreigner usually only dips a few hours
but this front may take a few days to let rise.
An especially stubborn pattern has emerged,
uncharacteristic to the season.
Unusually harsh conditions cause rethink of the cloud,
who normally enjoys to dwell up high, to consider
life down low.
Nature of tumult seeks rest and rest gives way to content.
After all, what can be so high and never feel a fall?
What terrible uproar the storm must bring,
to make the cloud believe, it's place is on the ground
not in the sky in spring.

First Steps

Emerson took his first steps, two of them. January Friday 6th, 2012. He's 9 months old. He thought about it for a little bit, then left his baby grip on the wall and came the distance me. He was really proud of himself, mouth wide, smiling. I think me and Jayson were even happier. I have to say the purity felt when he experiences the beginning things is the absolute very, very best.
